Genesis traces a separate Cainite line and names figures associated with tents and livestock, music, and metalwork. The site aggregates this line here rather than creating every descendant page.

Biography

Cain was born to Adam and Eve, and Genesis presents him as a worker of the ground . His offering from the fruit of the ground was not regarded as Abel's flock offering was, and Yahweh warned him that sin was crouching at the door .

Cain killed Abel in the field, then received judgment that the ground would no longer yield its strength to him and that he would be a fugitive and wanderer . Yahweh placed a mark on Cain so that no one who found him would kill him, and Cain went away to live in the land of Nod .
