In the northern kingdom setting, Hosea the prophet receives the word of Yahweh during the reigns of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, Hezekiah, and Jeroboam of Israel .
His marriage sign and children become living testimony against Israel, while the book also speaks of Yahweh healing waywardness and loving freely .
