Reuben is the firstborn son of Jacob and Leah, and his birth is narrated before the other sons of Leah Genesis 29:32.
Genesis later tells of his sin with Bilhah, and Jacob's blessing says Reuben is first in rank yet unstable and demoted Genesis 35:22 Genesis 49:3-4.
Reuben is not in the line to Jesus.
